Hockey Director

Meet the coach! Current Firewagon Hockey Director and Crystal Lake Stingers head coach Steve Martins previously worked with the Detroit Redwings Hockey Organization where he was the Youth Hockey Director, overseeing travel teams and their learn to skate program. Coach Steve also served as the Chicago Wolves Hockey Club Youth Community Ambassador (2009-2014). Prior to becoming a hockey skills instructor, Steve spent fourteen years (1995-2009) as a professional hockey player with the Hartford Whalers, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, and St. Louis Blues. He also won the Calder and Turner Cup Championships with the Chicago Wolves in 1998 and 2008. Steve played collegiately at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA (1991-1995) where he was an NCAA All-American and was inducted into the Harvard Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
